Ahead of the opening, Sasha contacted me to design the brand identity of what was to become Plant Playground, the only store of its kind in Perth. After our 1:1 session, Sasha’s vision was clear – she wanted a design that felt:
- Bold and raw
- Elegant and feminine
- Playful and experimental
- Youthful and innovative
- With a bit of a nostalgic feel
These considerations were my starting point, along with honouring the industrial feel of the warehouse space, not to mention the beautiful new furniture and fittings that were already on the way.
The central challenge of this project was to create a playful design full of personality, with the flexibility to support the wide range of services and products soon to be on offer.
I designed a colourful and bold brand that is easy and practical for Sasha and her team to apply through bespoke social templates. I gave them lots of colour combinations to play with to maximise their creative freedom while having fun with their brand and promoting all the different things they do.
The illustrated submark I created for them is fun and instantly recognisable, making it a great element to use on merchandise.
If you live in Perth and are into plants, sustainability and beautiful design, I highly recommend you pay them a visit! Check out the Plant Playground website for more information.
